WILL OF GOD

What is the will of God for your life? You need to ask yourself that question because your life is not going to be successful until you know it. Jesus taught us to pray to our Father, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Mark 6:10) He said about his own life. “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to finish His work” (John 4:34). To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge on earth. To find the will of God is the greatest discovery on earth and to do the will of God is the greatest achievement on earth and the gateway to the kingdom and glory of God.

Your relationship to Jesus Christ is determined by one thing – by doing the will of God. “For whoever does the will of my father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother, “Jesus said (Matthew 12:50) There is no birth into the kingdom of God without surrendering to the will of God. You cannot be a rebel and belong to Christ. To do the will of God involves the crucifixion of self-will. Your cross is where God’s will and your will intersect. You are going to have to crucify your will on a daily basis, because self-will is a spiritual cancer that will destroy your soul.

A rich young came to Jesus asking to be a part of the kingdom of God, but walked away sad because he refused to submit to Jesus’ word (Mark 10:17-22). How simple and glorious his life would have been if he had given his heart to doing the will of God. Doing God’s will is the least you can do, and it is the most you can do. You can’t do any better than the will of God.

Jeremiah 6:10, “To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? Indeed their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot give heed. Behold the word of the Lord is a reproach to them; they have no delight in it. THE WILL OF GOD IS THE GATEWAY TO GLORY.

Kneeling in the shadows of Gethsemane and facing Calvary, Jesus Christ prayed through sweat drops of blood, ‘O My Father if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as you will’ (Matthew 26:39) And in that instant of obedience to His Father’s will and purpose for His life, Christ shattered the gates of hell and crushed the enemy of our souls.

Consider the conversation between the virgin Mary and the angel Gabriel about her being the mother of God (Luke 1:26-38). She could have said, ‘if you think I will watch my son live a sinless life, helping and healing people, and then be called a drunk and a heretic, and hunted and crucified with criminals, you can forget it.” Instead, she said, “Let it be to me according to your word” (v38). What if she had said no to the will of God? She would have been just another unknown person who missed her highest potential. God’s will always bring you to the highest potential. You will never succeed in life, in your marriage, and with your children until the will of God helps you achieve your highest potential.

We know His will through written word of God. God’s word and God’s will are one and the same. You can never do something contrary to the word of God and be in the will of God. Never, if we would just live by that 90% of the couseling sessions in the church would be over today. Go to the word of God and find out what it says, and then obey it. We know that God’s will is through circumstances, because he controls the circumstances in your life. Isaiah said, “You will keep Him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you” (Isaiah 26:3). So when you are walking into an experience or a relationship or a business deal, and there is a little buzzer way down in the middle of your belly that’s going off, stop. Stop! Don’t go forward. Until you have the peace of God that surpasses understanding, learn to stop and don’t take another step until you have the perfect mind of God.
